the very best daddy

We have had such a great day!  A great weekend, actually.  I have many great pictures to share from the Heartwalk on Saturday.  And I wanted to let you know it is still not too late to donate, so those of you who meant to drop a check in the mail- there's still time!  I can still collect them for a couple more weeks.

We had a great Father's Day.  We all surprised Craig with a new grill, which he desperately needed!  Our old one was falling apart and way too small.  He was pretty surprised and happy to see this sitting on the deck in place of the old one!
We all grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch with all the fixings, and it tasted even more delicious somehow!  I credited the grill!  Ha!
Daddy and the kids... do you like how I copied the Sears commercial and hung a tie from the grill too?  Ha!
This little girl is standing on her own and taking steps!!
For dessert I made this yummy recipe I found on a blog- campfire brownies!  Oh my.  They were oohey gooey goodness!  You just make a pan of brownies, sprinkle chocolate chips on top, bake for 2 more minutes, then spread the chips over top.  Cut marshmallows in half and put them in oven at 500 degrees.  Just watch them puff up and brown a little bit.  Then push graham crackers down on top.  Best dessert ever- seriously!
We gave Papa his present- a new mug with Andrew and Kerigan's picture.  (For those of you wondering why there aren't more pictures of the princess- she napped almost the whole afternoon!)
This is pretty much the sweetest thing ever.
Andrew is so fortunate to have two grandpas who he loves so much.  He never knew his grandpa Bill, but I'm pretty sure this man makes up for it!
Daddy had some cards to open and another few surprises from me!
He got a photo collage from the kids (one of my favorite quotes from Pinterest- Daddy... A son's first hero, a daughter's first love).
And I'm thinking he almost liked his other "gift" just as much as the grill!
A night out alone to see one of his favorite movies he's been bugging me about forever!  And the best part?  I didn't have to sit through it!  Ha!  He's still there now and I'm sure he's in heaven!
While I was missing my dad today, I am so grateful for all the other fathers in my life- Happy Father's Day to my sweet husband, who is an amazing father and husband; to Jim, who doesn't replace my dad but adds a whole lot of fun and love to our family and I am so grateful for him, and to my father in law, who we didn't get to see today but we all love so much!  Andrew can't wait to come see grandpa and ride the gator soon!  Love you all!

Happy Father's Day!

Little Miss {eleven months}

My sweet baby girl...  I won't be able to call you that for much longer.  How is it possible that you are eleven months old?  Just one month short of being one year old.  It is simply amazing to me to think you've been on this Earth with us for this long.  I feel like in the blink of an eye you went from my sweet, tiny baby to my big one year old girl!
Kerigan, you are the sweetest little girl I could have ever dreamed of.  I love that you are fiesty and loud and know how to get what you want, yet you have such a sweet side.  You always know when I've told you "no" or not to do something.  You will head for it and look at me, stop, and shake your head "no."  It is the funniest thing ever.  Your brother would smile and go straight for it!  I love that you actually stop and listen to me.  Let's always keep it that way, okay?  Ha!
You are so silly.  You make the funniest faces and have the best expressions- I wish I could explain how funny you are.  Your little personality is just the best.  Ga Ga thinks you act like her grandmother (your great, great grandma), so sometimes we call you "Mabel!"  It is pretty funny.  You will clench your fists and grunt and growl at us!  You put emphasis on certain things as you babble, and it is like you are just telling us off!  Ha!  You make us laugh... all.the.time.
You are saying some new words this month.  You now say "dada/daddy" (your first word), mama, Ga Ga, Bubba, bye bye and uh oh.  You talk a LOT!  This comes as no surprise since your mama loves to talk!  Ha!  You imitate things we say and do.

Your big news this month.... you have taken steps!!  For the longest time you've been cruising around things and hanging on, afraid to let go.  You have the strength and you definitely knew how, but you just lacked confidence.
You started out walking around the room like this with Bubba or your lion (walker).
Andrew loves to drag you around!  You don't seem to mind.
You took four steps between Ga Ga and Mommy one day, but you never did it again until finally, just today, you stood all by yourself for a long time and took several steps towards me.  You got the most precious expression on your face!
Like "Look out Mommy!  Here I come!"  I think you were proud of what you were doing!
Thank goodness I had the camera right there because you decided you were ready, and you just took off.
This is another famous expression... Mommy was trying to get big smiles out of you and you weren't having it, so I had to call Bubba outside and this is what you did when you saw him!  Ha!
You gave him big smiles, as usual.  He's the only one who can really get those genuine smiles out of you.  It is just precious for me to see how much the two of you love each other.
You are so enamored by him!
Big open mouth kisses!  Sweetest.thing.ever.
It is so funny because Andrew goes back and forth between being nice to you and being a little naughty!  He always loves you, but I think sometimes he just gets so excited and wants to rile you up!  Ha!  When I have to put him in time out for making you cry, it just cracks me up because you crawl yourself right over to his time out spot and start bugging him!
You want to be right by him at all times, even if he has just made you mad!  You want to play with what he is playing with, and do what he does.  Sometimes this is okay with him, other times he just wants his space, but most of the time, you are sweet to each other and share.  There is definitely an unmistakeable bond between you!
You are totally done with baby food.  You want nothing to do with it anymore.  You have realized that real food tastes better and that's all you want!  Maybe it's because of all those chompers coming in!  Your top two teeth are through, and cute as ever!  You also have a third one on top, and I think more coming because you cannot keep your hands or things out of your mouth.

We have started you on a real schedule of breakfast, lunch and dinner.  You usually just eat what Andrew or we are eating.  You still take 4 8oz bottles a day, but I am thinking that is going to change soon when we switch you to real milk!
You are still a little inconsistent with your sleeping schedule!  Now that summer has started and mommy is home from work, you like to get up at 5:00am!  There were days during the year when we needed you to wake up and you were still sleeping!  Silly girl.
You are starting to take a longer morning nap from about 9-11am.  You are so funny when I bring you upstairs I put your paci in and you snuggle right in and cling to me for dear life!  Ha!  You know I am going to lay you down and you think know if you do this to me I will hold you for longer!  You have figured out how to work the system, sweet girl!  But I secretly love it.  When I put you down for nap time or bedtime you are so cute because you play with your hair to fall asleep.  You rub your hand all over your head and your little eyes get so droopy.  It is the cutest thing ever.  You also like me to stand there and rub your back and I usually have to do this until you fall asleep or you will stand right up and fuss if I leave!  No matter how tired you are!  Luckily you only do this at nap time, at bedtime you are always ready to go down.  You also take an afternoon nap usually between 1 and 3, sometimes 2 and 4.

You consistently take your bottle around 7:00pm and go right down without a fuss.  You do sleep through the night, so I can't really complain, but come on, girl!  5am??  The past couple days you have stretched it to 6:30, so I am thinking I'll have you trained just in time to go back to work and school again!  Ha!
I like taking pictures of you with my old things... this was another one of my little chairs I used to sit on when I was your age.  In fact, I stood up and took my first steps from it!
More big smiles for Bubba!  He was holding your hand while you stood up!
Your sweet little smile...
My all time favorite picture of you... your face just says it all!  That face is YOU.  It speaks volumes about your personality, your sweetness, how funny you are...everything!  I could seriously stare at it for hours.  I love you more than words, baby girl!  I can't wait to see you meet Minnie Mouse this month, you are obsessed with her!  I'm so happy you get to come on this special trip with us.  Now let's show everyone what a good traveler you are, okay?  Ha!

I'll be scheduling a few posts for when we are gone because I know I'll have lots to share when we get back!  Somebody's birthday party is right around the corner and Minnie is taking over the house right now!  We can't wait to celebrate our girl!

We love you to the moon and back, baby!
(And I love how your smile at 3 months and this month are still the same, even after all this time.  That is your great big, happy smile!  I love it!  You are the happiest baby ever!)

phone dump

Since I've had my iPhone, I have a new love for taking pictures with my phone.  It does such a great job, although of course my big camera does much better, but this is a great substitute for times when I don't want to lug that around, or when I forget it!

So, just some fun random things from my phone the past couple of months I want to remember...
One evening when we got home from school, it was so beautiful out that we didn't even go inside!  We pulled out the sidewalk chalk and I love the little pictures Andrew drew on the driveway.  This is a beanstalk and magic beans!
A big giraffe... I think he is getting so good at drawing!  He knows to put feet, fingers, etc on people and animals.  His drawings are so cute.  And I let Kerigan loose in the driveway thinking she'd sit and take it all in... notsomuch.  She was all over the place!
Taking a walk while Andrew rode his bike.  He does so good now with stopping and waiting for me so I don't have to run after him!
One beautiful evening our friends called us to join them for the horse races at our local casino!  This is something so fun to do in the summer time.  Landon and Andrew had a blast watching them race!
Little miss' favorite thing to do... pull down mommy's curtains.  I think I hang these back up 428 times a day!
One night we had plans with Uncle Jay, Aunt Rachel and the kids to go to a new place called Sky Zone sports where they have huge trampolines.  We didn't realize they can close for parties or be booked up so we didn't get to stay.  So we decided to head on over to Incredible Pizza instead, and I think the kids had just as much fun!  Andrew played this Spongebob video game almost the whole time!  He was obsessed! (And Spongebob is the one show I don't let him watch, but he definitely knows the character and takes any chance he can get to see him!)
I love this!  Mini bowling alley!
One afternoon I went to pick Kerigan up early from day care and this is how she looked.  Most precious thing ever!
I took the kids to my school carnival the other night- it was so gorgeous out!  This is Kerigan with her little boyfriend, Harrison.  His mama and I teach together and were pregnant together, which was so fun!  They are 2 months apart.
Ga Ga and Andrew seem to take naps together a lot!  Ha!

One of Craig's 40 some cousins got married last month.  Craig was busy working, but I took Andrew so he could see his cousins and grandparents and I knew he'd have a great time dancing!
Have you ever seen anything like this?  This was shrimp!  I was amazed!  Ha!
The wedding was so beautiful!  The reception was at an old church that had been burned down and renovated and made into a reception hall.
Just gorgeous!
Andrew's first dollar dance with cousin Laura!  Ha!
Jayden and Andrew giving Grandma some love!
Andrew found a new little friend- Another one of Craig's cousin's little girl, Ellie.  She is so sweet!  She was dragging Andrew around all night!  He went and got a rose off one of the tables and handed it to her!  Precious!  Andrew danced and ran around and around until way past 10:00pm!  He was still not ready to stop.  On our way out he said, "I wanna go to another wedding!"  Ha!  Good thing there are 2 more cousins getting married this year!
This is just something sweet I want to remember... Kerigan loves this little sheep from Andrew's farm set.  She will go over to the barn and pull this same sheep out every single time.  She carries it around the house, and won't put it down.  Every time we go somewhere, the sheep is usually in her hand so it goes with us!  Here we were on our way back from Ga Ga's house and she fell asleep in the car holding it.  So sweet!
Reading books with Ga Ga- I love her expression!
Hunger Games and a DVD= serious Saturday night entertainment!  ha!
This was my view one evening after her bottle.  I could have held her like this all night! SO in love!
On the last week of school, Craig brought the kids in to my classroom to meet my students for a little while.  The kids had a blast and so did my fourth graders!
They'd go back and forth between playing with Andrew and following Kerigan around!  I think it's safe to say both of my kids were thoroughly entertained!
Finishing up a movie we had started earlier in the day- Andrew blends right in, doesn't he?  Ha!
This made me laugh- I was bringing around gum to my students and threw four pieces down at this table... whoops!  I somehow overlooked the fact that my FIVE year old isn't a fourth grader!
We've been keeping plenty busy now that school is out- and we haven't even made it to the pool yet!  Andrew had Safety Town last week.  It is a week long session involving lots of safety lessons and geared towards the incoming Kindergarteners.  It is a great program and Andrew loved it!  He didn't want it to end! (See the little cones and buildings set up behind him?  They rode bikes around the cones like they were riding in town- so cute!)  Oh, and his helmet... yeah, he insisted on wearing it inside on the first day!  Ha!
My girl will not eat baby food anymore.  She is onto bigger and better!  Spaghetti is a favorite... and this morning I gave her pancakes and she gobbled them!
I made Mickey shaped ones to get ready for our trip in less than 2 weeks!  (And because I had plenty of time since the kids have been getting up between 5 and 6am since summer began!  Ahhhh!
Most anticipated movie of the year!  Madagascar 3!  Daddy and I got a babysitter for Kerigan and took Andrew out on a special date.  Andrew was so excited he could hardly stand it!
A little video of Kerigan figuring out how to walk.  She stands pretty well on her own and she's taken 4 steps by herself.  She has to be in the right mood and she still lacks a little confidence, but it's coming! She makes a cute little face in the video.  Ignore my laundry basket and annoying voice!  Ha!
Father's Day shopping for daddy wears a girl out!  Ha!

I think I'm all caught up now!
